blog 30

College is getting ridiculous. Ok, so at the moment I have to take an online chemistry quiz (and score well on it) by Saturday, finish a thirty question online math test (and do reaaaalllyy well on it) by Sunday, and completely rewrite my seven page English paper by next Friday. I also have not even touched my chemistry lab, but have already seen other students fretting over it and struggling while I’m fretting over and struggling with something else before I can even get to the lab. I also have several sections of math to work on and study this weekend, as well as some online research project that’s going to take a while for my survey class. I have a chemistry midterm next Tuesday that I am not ready for AT ALL, and no time to study with all of this homework and these projects. I also just got my math midterm back. The average for the class was a 60%. That’s insane. The midterm and the final are basically the class. No one got an A. Which means the only thing I can count on is freshman forgiveness. Which means I just paid a lot of money for NOTHING.They are not letting us retake the exam (which had too many questions in too little time anyway!) nor are they giving us any kind of curve. That is not ok, it’s really not. I am tired of people not teaching or preparing their students and acting like their class is the only priority in the student’s academic career. I have a lot of other classes to worry about too, and I would rather be doing things hands on in class than wasting my time re-teaching myself at home because my teacher doesn’t know what to do with their self.  I don’t want to re take this class and I definitely don’t want the same teacher.

  1. Sounds like you have a VERY hectic schedule. Maybe if you tried making out a set schedule for every day it would be easier for you to get stuff done. Try not to stress! At least you'll be getting an A in this class after all the blogs!

  2. Oh boy, do I understand the whole teacher thing. A majority of professors are hired for their research and NOT their teaching ability. And some are even hired just to fill a position for a while. I completely feel for you about the teachers that do not prepare their students well enough for exams, quizzes and even just understanding the material. Paying a university to teach yourself a class seems a bit pointless, as I am sure you would agree. I hope you get some of the better teachers in the future. I have had so many of both it wasn't even funny. Possibly to avoid these teahers in the future, go the first day of class and if the teacher doesn't reall click for you then attend one of the alernate teachers for the same classes session. I did this several times adn found the other teacher to be much better and switched into their section.

  3. Who is your teacher for your math class? I'm not enjoying my professor either. He doesn't explain anything and my TA is behind on teaching the material the professor didn't cover and I feel like the mymathtest crap doesn't even deal with the stuff we are supposedly learning in class. I failed my math midterm. I am frustrated and reached the point where I feel like I'm giving up in that class. I might drop it and have a pretty W on my record.

  4. To emSnyder: Thank you for the encouragement, I am trying as hard as I can at the moment.

    To Rick:
I completely agree, and that sounds like a wonderful idea! I am definately going to have to do that next quarter. That should solve most of my problems and give me some free time since I wont be teaching myself.

  5. To Sarah:
My lecturer is the one armed teacher (I didnt bother to learn his name since it already angers me just to look at him as he casually jogs to class unprepared and borrows other kids books). My TA is Noah, and he is also behind. I agree on the MyMathTest stuff, its very different from our material! I have been so scared lately that I may have to drop it, but I think Ill keep trying. Oh and I also failed my midterm, and I studied ALOT.
